A Healthy Mattress - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Natural Mattress

In 2011 upon being diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Corinne's sister Jan purchased an organic mattress. Jan wanted it to be natural rubber latex (as opposed to chemically made foam), and customized to fit her 98 lbs versus her husband's 200 + lbs. Seven years later, the time is drawing near for an upgrade. Jan and her husband have asked us to source a better quality healthy mattress.

Replacement Every 8 Years

Mattresses that are used nightly in your primary home, whether innerspring, latex or a combination thereof, need to be replaced approximately every 8 years. Those used in your second or third homes that do not get steady use will not need to be replaced for many more years.

Brown Design Group's top recommendations for mattresses come from Custom Comfort Mattress. Their mattresses are hand crafted in the USA using hand-sewn tapering and compressed springs. With showrooms in Los Angeles and Newport Beach, they will help you find the fit needed. The mattresses are double sided, non-toxic and eco-friendly (use no chemical fire retardants and use all natural materials). Organic cotton is an available upgrade.

When Do You Need a New Mattress?

Your body will tell you when you need a new mattress. Custom Comfort Mattresses should last 10-12 years and may be custom designed in any size (crib, toddler, over-sized, adjustable beds, boats, etc.).

Natural latex is an upgrade and relieves pressure points. Jan says that the latex has helped her fibromyalgia. Also, Jan is an asthmatic so Brown Design Group sourced organic cotton waterproof zippered mattress casings and organic cotton zippered pillow and duvet covers.
