Corinne Attends High Point's Fall Market 2021

High Point Market in North Carolina is the fashion week for home furnishings, and was back in business post pandemic. Corinne was there with associate designer Zee from October 16-20. With millions of square feet of showrooms of furniture, lighting, accessories and resources open only to the trade, Corinne and Zee explored and documented a wealth of ideas and favorite vendors for current and future projects.

"Sitting on upholstery is something designer’s do a lot of. Nowadays, it is pretty likely that our clients will not be able to sit on something themselves. This saturated beauty was at Square Feathers, a company from Austen Texas that I liked very much. The quality was excellent."

"Here is a shot of Zee. She accompanied me which was SO helpful. Two bodies are better than one and four eyes are better than two, but, more importantly, her ability to digitally record our trip was invaluable. It is important to keep records of our likes and finds."

"This was on my first day of market. I loved the glass on these balls at Noir. It was not uniform and very handmade looking. It obscured and softened the light from the bulbs. I did not see anything quite like it."

"My favorite find was The Mill Collective. I took refuge here enjoying the unique pieces by individual Makers and artists. This is NOT what you normally see at High Point. These chairs were made by Aspen Golann. The taller one is an iconic Windsor style dating from the 1700’s which she meticulously constructed. The smaller chair is a modern, stripped down version of a Windsor chair, also meticulously crafted. Unique."

"While at market, the Design Trust Limited, the national group of designers of which I am currently the President, took advantage of the mutual gathering point and spent time together and shared our finds with each other. We also met with Kravet for a focus group. They are a great partner of The DTL. Our group had pertinent input as to the direction of the design industry in relation to designers, topics relating to the education of designers and design schools and how we can elevate the profession and industry as a whole." Kravet is a company that keeps in tune with their clients and thinks out of the box as to how to move forward. We are so honored to be a part of their process."

"Gary Searle of Kravet set up a magical evening for Design Trust Limited at the Graylin Mansion. He even chose the china and flowers and set the table himself.

After landing in Reno, Corinne and Zee squeezed in some time for antiquing in Gardnerville, Nevada before heading back home to Mammoth.
